c.1850 Farmhouse, New Brighton PA
A little bit spend for Western Pennsylvania at $525k but quite lovely if you were in the market for an historic home in this price range. "Robin Trail" as it's called is located in Daugherty Township on 11 "scenic" acres. It has four bedrooms and four full baths, plus a half bath. Master bedroom with sleeping porch is in the addition - which, from the looks of the front elevation, isn't as historically sensitive as it might be. But I have to say the "Award Winning Formal Entrance Parterre/Williamsburg Designed Gardens" more than make up for that. Wow. Gorgeous. Interior looks spacious and is loaded with period details. Also comes with a 136 X 60 indoor riding area and 7 acres of fenced pasture.

1840 Italianate, Edmeston New York
Okay, this one has a triple whammy of being in rough shape, isolated and located in an area that's colder than I like -- but that said -- WOW! At $144k for this cool old house on almost 13 acres with a river view? The listing says bring all offers for a home featuring 10 foot ceilings, wide plank flooring and floor to ceiling windows. 5 bedrooms. 1 bath ; (. They don't even show the kitchen so that's probably a real horror. However, they say the views of the mountains, fields and river are fantastic. Weekend home and money pit anyone?

Amazing in Oella c. early 1800's
Right on the Patapsco River, this basic shell of a millworker's stone home is a unique property on Granite Hill across from Ellicott City as it is the only house that is not attached to another. It's also at the end of the row so there is an opportunity for a great river /forest view from 2 sides of the house. It's on .10 of an acre so you don't have to worry much about yardwork. Possible plans for expansion attached, but the Oella Company/Charles Wagandt (owners) are open to ideas and input from whoever buys this. You'd have to put $$ into finishing it out. One that is already completed is on the market at $600k+. If you had the resources you could probably put significantly less into it and create something incredible. This great start is listed at $295k.

Tiny Texas Houses
If I ever find the perfect piece of property that doesn't have a house on it or has one that's too dilapidated to save, Tiny Tiny Texas Houses could be a BIG idea. They build prefab "manufactured" houses out of cool old salvage material -- for $75k or less. And look how cool they are! * starts googling lake side lots *

Wake Robin c. 1806, Perryville Kentucky
In addition to being an amazingly picturesque 1801-1806 Stone Estate on up to 69.5 gorgeously rolling acres -- and one of the oldest Stone homes West of the Alleghenies and certainly one of the oldest in Kentucky - this place belonged to George Clooney's grandmother and he spent a lot of time here as a child. ; ) Larger than it looks on the outside, it has 5 fireplaces
4 bedrooms, 2 baths, 2 barns up to 4 barns, grain bin, Silo and feed lot, 9' and 10' ceilings, Hand-Hewn oak beams,
Heart Pine floors, 2' thick walls - massively constructed with massive integrity built in the traditional German craftsmanship style. The foundation is three feet thick, the walls are 2 feet thick and hewn out of Kentucky marble. The kitchen needs work and it doesn't have air conditioning, but other than that, every room is gorgeous and filled with original detail. "Basement" is a massive stone room with fireplace that is being touted as a potential "bourbon room" or wine room. Another big plus is that although it's secluded in prime Blue Grass country, it's 10 minutes or so from town and a starbucks, movie theaters etc. I'm linking the video which contains a fascinating tour of the entire property. This place would be ideal for a certain Kentucky home gal I know.... Oh yeah. The price. If you just want the house, two barns, stream on 18.592 acres you can walk away with it for just $395k or $1400 a month lease.

Linwood c 1865, Ellicott City Maryland
Complete jaw-DROPPER on 1.7 acres with tree-lined drive surrounded by pastureland. 4,300 square feet crowned with a way-cool cupola. Looks like it's in incredible condition. 6 bedrooms. 3 1/2 baths. SEVEN fireplaces. Modernized kitchen- looks nicely done. Greenhouse, shed and barn as out building. Lots of original details. Covered porches + balconies. Beautiful landscaping. In law suite/au pair quarters. Built by D.S. Hopkins in 1865. If I were just a weeeeee little bit more fed up with the infill development in my neighborhood, I'd totally consider moving. A few years ago, this would have been easily over $1 million. Currently priced at $885k. This definitely deserves a drive by.......
